Theatre

Theatre and Speech and Debate classes are an energetic and engaging opportunity for students to focus on the essential skill of communication. Whether board room or Broadway bound, all students can benefit from strengthening their presentation skills and developing confidence in front of a group. Theatre classes are offered for students in grades 5-12.

The Drama and Theatre program at Parish is a multi-dimensional, top-tier program that emphasizes individual growth and a foundational approach to learning that yields results. The comprehensive theatre and drama program takes 5th through 12th grade students through a process of building on solid foundations in the origins and history of theatre via action and training. This experiential training gives the students a sense of self confidence and an understanding of not only how to create theatre, but how it came to be and why it has evolved into the forms we have today.

Our advanced students are then able to gain a deeper understanding of the disciplines they choose to pursue. We offer courses in all aspects of theatre including design, technical theatre, directing and acting; as well as a film course to nurture the blossoming film student. All of our programs are designed around preparing the individual student to be confident and self aware, knowledgeable about their discipline and ready for a rich future in the arts whether they continue into a top college program, the professional world or choose an alternate career path.

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre class will cover a brief history of American Musical Theatre. Singing, dancing and acting will be incorporated into each trimester class. This activities course will require students to learn song and dance routines from Broadway musicals. Students will leave this class with a better understanding and appreciation for musical theatre, as well as help them to learn and improve performance arts skills. First Trimester Musical Theatre Students rehearse and perform the annual Madrigal Dinner which kicks off the Christmas season.
