Middle School English, 5th/6th grade
POSITION OBJECTIVE: Major responsibility of the position is to develop and execute teaching plans for assigned subject(s) and counsel with students and parents to meet subject objectives.
QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS: Candidate must have knowledge and experience in teaching 5th/6th grade English, especially the literature component. A bachelor's degree is required; master’s degree is preferred preferably in the subject matter. Involvement in student life, especially our advisory program, is an expectation of all teachers. We are especially interested in candidates who have a strong interest and/or background in interdisciplinary work. Additionally, we seek candidates who have an interest and ability to contribute to our extracurricular programs, including athletic coaching.
Candidate must have excellent communication skills and command of subject matter with tact in dealing with parents, other instructors and children in school setting. Must have experience working with children and demonstrate desire to do the same. Ability to exercise good judgment when dealing with students of all ages; set good example for students; comply with school standards as they relate to faculty conduct. Able to maintain classroom structure. Involvement in student life is an expectation of all teachers including, but not limited to, lunchroom and carpool duties and field trip/class trip participation. 3-5 years teaching experience is preferred. Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Plan and execute lesson study to meet subject objective.
- Conduct counseling sessions with parents as needed.
- Manage and monitor student learning.
- Assist with extra-curricular activities as assigned.
- Coordinate with other instructors and administration to develop the total child.
- Prepare course materials, i.e.: Teaching and examination materials, articles, workbooks, manuals, etc.
- Adhere to Parish Episcopal “Characteristics of Effective Teaching.”
- Promote the school’s statement of mission and philosophy.
- Prepare students for next grade level.
- Maintain professional credentials as required by Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) or other accrediting agencies.

Upper School (9th -12th grades)
UPPER SCHOOL HISTORY
POSITION OBJECTIVE: Major responsibility of the position is to develop and execute teaching of the US World History course for honors and college preparation students and meet departmental objectives of reading and writing.
QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS: Must have excellent communication skills and command of subject matter, namely World History from the Renaissance to the present. Ability to exercise good judgment when dealing with students and their parents; set good example for students; be an advisor to approximately 10-13 students; comply with school standards as they relate to faculty conduct. Able to maintain classroom structure. Involvement in student life is an expectation of all teachers. Minimum four-year degree in History; 3-5 years teaching experience. Master’s Degree in World History preferred . Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Plan and execute lesson study to meet subject objective; be able to develop curriculum.
- Ability to teach history essay and paper writing skills and primary and secondary source reading skills
- Conduct counseling sessions with students as needed in the capacity of either a teacher or an advisor.
- Manage and monitor student learning and work with learning specialist when necessary.
- Assist with extra-curricular activities and duties as assigned.
- Coordinate with other instructors and administration to develop the Parish Way model of education.
- Prepare course materials, i.e.: Teaching and examination materials, articles, workbooks, manuals, etc.
- Adhere to Parish Episcopal “Characteristics of Effective Teaching”.
- Promote the school’s statement of mission and philosophy.
- Prepare students for AP, DC, and college preparation courses.
- Maintain professional credentials as required by Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) or other accrediting agencies.
