Photography
The photography program at Parish has the primary goal of awakening and deepening the students’ appreciation for the visual arts. We teach fundamental techniques and principles of the traditional and digital photographic medium as well as the rich history of this art form in its historical context.
Assignments provide a means of reflection, self expression and personal growth. Students are encouraged and challenged to open their minds and think creatively. As a result, they emerge from the program equipped with a wide range of visual communication skills, a developed sensibility to the importance of preserving individual and collective memory, and an appreciation of art as an irreplaceable manifestation of the human spirit. Transferable critical thinking skills are emphasized so that students with a variety of interests and vocational orientations may benefit.
The program provides guidance and support for students who would like to prepare a portfolio for college and scholarship applications, Advanced Placement credit (AP) and for personal fulfillment.
