Early Childhood
The Early Childhood Division is located on the Hillcrest Campus at the corner of Spring Valley and Hillcrest Roads. Situated among beautiful trees and picturesque gardens, it is the perfect environment for our young students to begin exploring the world around them.
With dedicated and passionate teachers, student-centered classrooms and an academically stimulating curriculum, Parish Episcopal School’s early childhood program teaches the necessary fundamentals of education and then goes much further in order to provide an exceptional learning experience. Since learning is as much a social activity as it is an individual activity, much of what students learn comes from interacting with other people. Classes are structured to provide instruction that is developmentally appropriate and to promote creativity, problem solving, and critical thinking. We understand that a child’s development and learning are integrated. Therefore, based on an emergent and integrated curriculum, lessons are developed around students’ daily explorations that enable them to make connections across subject areas.
Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes are aimed at developing and expanding the child’s perceptual abilities, language development, attention span, social skills, and desire to learn to read and write, and to use numbers. In the primary years, a strong foundation is built in the core subjects that offer academic challenges. As basic skills are mastered, students are empowered to become confident, self-motivated, and life-long learners. Grounded in faith, our students and their families form a meaningful bond with the School that results in an extraordinarily strong school community that is a Parish Episcopal tradition.
