| | If you own appreciated securities (held more than 12 months), you can benefit two ways by making a gift of securities to Parish. First, you will be able to claim a charitable income tax deduction for the full market value of the gift. As with outright gifts of cash, any amount exceeding the contribution ceiling can be carried forward and deducted for up to five years. Second, you will avoid the capital gains tax on the appreciated amount that would have been due if you had sold the shares yourself.

| | Until December 31, 2007, Parish grandparents and friends 70½ years or older may take advantage of a special tax-saving and gift opportunity. Through that date, the Pension Protection Act of 2006 allows you to make tax-advantaged charitable donations directly from your IRA.
What are the benefits to you? • You can transfer IRA assets directly to Parish without paying income tax on the withdrawal. • The amount of the charitable transfer will count toward your annual minimum required distribution. • You may contribute up to $100,000 • The funds must be transferred from a traditional IRA or a rollover IRA directly to Parish Episcopal School.
