Among the 32 teams for each 16-team bracket are some of North Texas’ top public and private school programs as well as Australia’s Brighton Wolves bringing two teams to compete in their respective girls and boys brackets.In the girls’ bracket, top area programs include Garland High School, John Paul II, ESD, Highland Park, Prince of Peace, Greenhill, Fort Worth Country Day and Trinity Christian-Addison. The boys’ bracket includes Acadian Prep from Louisiana, Fort Worth Southwest, Cistercian, Grapevine Faith and Houston Heights. First-game tip-off is 8 a.m. Dec. 27 with games running in the Parish Gym all day Dec. 29 as well. A slam-dunk and 3-point shooting contest will be Dec. 29. There will be no games Dec. 28 (Sunday). The girls’ championship will be 5 p.m. Dec. 30 followed by the boys’ final at 6:30 p.m. Free Soccer clinic open to all Parish community Parish coaches host clinic on Jan 3 December 2008 The Parish soccer coaches will be hosting a free, fun-filled soccer clinic for new and experienced players alike. Boys take top honors in weekend tourney Nov 25, 2008 The Parish boys’ varsity basketball team brought home the First Place trophy from the First Baptist Tournament in Pasadena, TX, last weekend. The Panthers were undefeated in tournament play. Senior Javier Carter was voted “Most Valuable Player”, and Junior Adam Weyand was selected “All Tournament Player”. Congratulations to Coach Dorian Harris and the team.Parish winter sports teams are all off the remainder of this week in observance of Thanksgiving holidays but crank back up next week with a full schedule. Middle School football in DPL Catholic Bowl Five Panthers to play in DPL all-star game Nov 20, 2008 Our 6th grade and 7th/8th grade football teams have advanced to the DPL Catholic Bowl to be played this Saturday at Jesuit College Prep. The 6th graders will face St. Monica at 6pm, and the 7th/8th will play St. Rita at 8pm. The DPL all-star game will be played on Sunday, 7pm, at Bishop. Parish Panthers playing in this game are Evan English, Tre Vance, Dru Smith, Coleton Uzelac and Blake Ransom. Congratulations to these players as the represent Parish this weekend. Milestones mark Panthers’ season Nov 17, 2008 Parish Episcopal had another TAPPS state playoff run, but the Panthers had another season ended by perennial power Argyle Liberty in the playoffs.Parish lost at Argyle Liberty, 41-26, last Friday in the first round of the state playoffs. Defending 4A state champ Liberty also defeated Parish to end the Panthers' season in '07. Parish (8-3) survived numerous injuries to get a second-consecutive TAPPS playoff berth. At one point, the Panthers had nine starters out. But the Panthers' third varsity season wasn't without highlights. full story... Parish starts playoff march Nov 12, 2008 Parish Episcopal is starting the TAPPS Division II state football playoffs at the top. The Panthers will play at defending state champion Argyle Liberty Christian at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the first round (click here for driving directions).“It doesn’t matter when you play them,” Parish coach Scott Nady said. “You’ve got to beat all of them anyway.” Parish (8-2) has had a week off to recuperate some long-standing injuries. The Panthers had lost as many as nine starters when it lost two of three district games. All are expected to return against Liberty Christian (7-3). Parish claimed its playoff berth with a last-minute, 43-yard touchdown pass in a 42-35 victory over Prestonwood Christian on Oct. 31. STATE CHAMPS: Parish Volleyball! Nov 10, 2008 Parish Episcopal claimed its first TAPPS state volleyball championship with a victory over Dallas Christian in the final at the Merrell Center in Katy, Tx. In just its third varsity season, Parish defeated district rival Dallas Christian in four games (25-15, 25-8, 20-25, 25-13) to win the Class 4A Division. Parish had defeated Houston Lutheran North in the semifinals on Friday to reach its first ever state final.Parish senior Kelsey Musselman, junior Whitney Keith and sophomores Abbey Rogge and Amshatar Stephenson were named All-State. The Lady Panthers (40-9) finished ranked No. 8 in The Dallas Morning News’ 4A area poll. “I am so very proud of all of this team,” Parish coach Jenny Neuhoff said. “I have seen immense improvement and maturity, not only in their skills but in individual personalities. We have had our ups and downs, but it has truly been my pleasure and my greatest honor to be their coach.” Parish returned seven players for this season with high hopes. The Panthers repeated as TAPPS district champs without a district loss, including two wins over Dallas Christian. Musselman, who plans to play in college at Columbia, was named the District 2-4A Most Valuable Player in a vote of coaches. Keith was named the Offensive Player of the Year and sophomore Holly Hopkins was the Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Neuhoff was named Coach of the Year for the second-consecutive season.
