football_111708Parish Episcopal had another TAPPS state playoff run, but the Panthers had another season ended by perennial power Argyle Liberty in the playoffs.

Parish lost at Argyle Liberty, 41-26, last Friday in the first round of the state playoffs. Defending 4A state champ Liberty also defeated Parish to end the Panthers' season in '07.

Parish (8-3) survived numerous injuries to get a second-consecutive TAPPS playoff berth. At one point, the Panthers had nine starters out. But the Panthers' third varsity season wasn't without highlights. full story...

Parish starts playoff march
Nov 12, 2008
football111208Parish Episcopal is starting the TAPPS Division II state football playoffs at the top. The Panthers will play at defending state champion Argyle Liberty Christian at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the first round (click here for driving directions).

“It doesn’t matter when you play them,” Parish coach Scott Nady said. “You’ve got to beat all of them anyway.”

Parish (8-2) has had a week off to recuperate some long-standing injuries. The Panthers had lost as many as nine starters when it lost two of three district games. All are expected to return against Liberty Christian (7-3).

Parish claimed its playoff berth with a last-minute, 43-yard touchdown pass in a 42-35 victory over Prestonwood Christian on Oct. 31.

STATE CHAMPS: Parish Volleyball!
Nov 10, 2008
vball_111008Parish Episcopal claimed its first TAPPS state volleyball championship with a victory over Dallas Christian in the final at the Merrell Center in Katy, Tx. In just its third varsity season, Parish defeated district rival Dallas Christian in four games (25-15, 25-8, 20-25, 25-13) to win the Class 4A Division. Parish had defeated Houston Lutheran North in the semifinals on Friday to reach its first ever state final.

Parish senior Kelsey Musselman, junior Whitney Keith and sophomores Abbey Rogge and Amshatar Stephenson were named All-State. The Lady Panthers (40-9) finished ranked No. 8 in The Dallas Morning News’ 4A area poll.

“I am so very proud of all of this team,” Parish coach Jenny Neuhoff said. “I have seen immense improvement and maturity, not only in their skills but in individual personalities.  We have had our ups and downs, but it has truly been my pleasure and my greatest honor to be their coach.”

Parish returned seven players for this season with high hopes. The Panthers repeated as TAPPS district champs without a district loss, including two wins over Dallas Christian.

Musselman, who plans to play in college at Columbia, was named the District 2-4A Most Valuable Player in a vote of coaches. Keith was named the Offensive Player of the Year and sophomore Holly Hopkins was the Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Neuhoff was named Coach of the Year for the second-consecutive season.
